Tour of Lecce
The Florence of the South
You have the option:
Lecce & Otranto, with a stop in Castro
or
Lecce & Gallipoli

We begin our tour in Lecce, home of baroque architecture and a history dating back to the Trojan War.
See an amphitheater dating back to the glory days of the Roman Empire and discover the “Florence of southern Italy", completely drenched in Baroque
architecture. There we'll explore endless churches, art and history before heading to our second destination on the coast.
Lecce to Otranto with a stop in Castro
From Lecce, we will travel down the heel of the boot of Italy via winding coastal roads overlooking the sea to charming Castro.
Sip cappuccino on the water and dip your toes in the crystal clear aquamarine waters of the
Adriatic.
Near Castro, we’ll tour Castel Di Salve winery, created by the Duke of Salve in the 19th century.
Castel Di Salve brings together wines produced from four of their vineyards which, though geographically very close,
actually fall into four distinct microclimates and soil environments.
The differing conditions give birth to incredible white wines...
where it is a bit cooler and deep reds which ripen to perfection in the late,
warm summers down by the sea. You’ll have a chance to taste them all!
When we reach the tip of the boot, we'll enjoy lunch at a local fish restaurant.
On our way back up, we'll stop in the famous eastern most town in Italy, Otranto, to
visit the famous church with a floor covered in mosaic tile and the Altar of the Martyrs.
Lecce to Gallipoli
From Lecce, we'll head over to the Ionian coast to visit the breathtaking sea and fisherman's town of Gallipoli. There we'll do some shopping,
tour the old town and main cathedral, and stop in a centuries-old underground olive mill which lies beneath the streets.
If you'd like, we can stop for a swim in the Ionian Sea and get a glass of wine on the beach.
Salento Wineries
Private Tour of award winning Salento Wineries. Price 175 Euros pp. with light lunch included
Visit two wineries in the Primitivo Negramaro area of Salice Salentino and taste their award winning wines and delicious food. With an extra 30 Euros, it's possible to add a third winery or spend one hour on the sandy beach of nearby Porto Cesareo, or add a quick tour of Lecce. Departure at 9.00 am, return at 4,30 pm.
Tour of Matera~
Take a full-day tour of Southern Italy to experience the region’s food, wine, and landscape. You’ll visit a winery and savor some of the best wines produced in the area. You’ll also have the chance to explore the ancient city of Matera.

*Experience the wine, food, and landscape of Puglia and Basilicata
*Visit 1 or 2 vineyards and taste their wines
*Explore the ancient city of Matera, the setting for well-known films

You’ll travel with an expert guide through unspoiled landscape boasting ancient vineyards that have produced the famous Primitivo, Negromaro, Sussumaniello, and Aglianico e Bombino Bianco wines.
This full-day excursion begins in Gioia del Colle. You’ll be taken on a tour by one of the owners of this organic vineyard, where focus is on the fantastic Primitivo wine. If you choose to visit a second vineyard, we will take you to a masseria, or country estate, where an expert sommelier will take you through the organic wine production process.

Before lunch you will head to the ancient city of Matera, which is home to movie director Francis Ford Coppola. Matera has been the setting for a number of well-known films including Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ. You’ll enjoy a great lunch at a well known restaurant in the old town and afterwards visit the famous Sassi cave dwellings. In addition, you will have free time to explore the city at your leisure.
